I have lots of chipping sparrows in my yard and I noticed that they do tend to assist the other birds. Is it just the caretaker instinct that other birds naturally sense?

I, too have found it intersting. I took lots of photographs of this drama playing out when I came across it. I also saw a Chippie feeding a voracious little fledged BHCow. Birds are birds. It's not as if they know they are doing 'wrong.' Great video, John. Bir

Interesting video -seeing such a shrimp of a bird being suckered in by a cowbird. I saw a Scarlet Tanger feeding a cowbird in the nest last year. I know I'm supposed to find this disturbing but it strikes me more as interesting.
