The annual alewife run at Damariscotta Mills, Maine is picking up in intensity. This morning, I made the 20 minute drive and arrived on location just before sunrise. Double-crested Cormorants by the hundreds were in the air and in the Great Salt Bay. Great Blue Herons were everywhere. Several Bald Eagles soared overhead looking for a fish to steal. The Osprey did not disappoint! They were hungry and my shutter finger kept up with the action for three hours.

Very cool photo. That really shows how the Osprey carries the fish aerodynamically.

Wow! This is a spectacular photo! I agree with Dawn, it looks like a beautiful painting. Nice capture of both profiles too!

I sure wish I could be there to see all the action! Maybe sometime you can get some video. I can't image so many cormorants flying around! What a sight it must have been!

Wow and wow and wow… Just splendid!!! This is just a fantastic dynamic and beautifully captured action!! A must of the must in terms of nature photography. This one should go into a photo contest. Well done.
