Pictorial: Birds of Summer 2009

by John Briggs on September 29, 2009

in Bird Photographs, Bird Photography Weekly, Blog, Wildlife

I have been battling a nasty cold since the weekend and now have thoughts of H1N1. Attending classes are out of the question for the time being. With the free time on my hands, I have been catching up on course work and selecting photos for my birds of summer review. Coughing and sneezing my way through the photos, I have picked some of my favorites.

We hope you enjoy these bird photographs. Some of you may have already seen most of them, but it’s fun remembering the photos taken during the warm summer months. It won’t be long until the breath of winter will be upon us. Cold, snow, and ice… bringing along the birds of winter.

Note: Some of the photos are “tall”. Hitting the f11 key before viewing full-sized photos will open your browser to its fullest top to bottom size.

Happy birding!

What a great lineup of photos–each one more stunning than the next. Hope you recover soon. The flu and colds are really spreading fast around here–very early.

Oh my goodness..I hope it isn’t the H1n1 as that sounds like a nasty bug. Feel better! Thank you for sharing all the great photos. I especially like the osprey and gull with the outstretched wings… Michelle

I don’t mind a photo review… I rather enjoyed it. Especially loved the Chipping Sparrow nest and the Eider chick. Hope you feel better soon. Take good care of yourself.

Oh, this is like an extra-special edition of BPW! Very cool, and such great photos. I love them all, and as Chris said, it’s impossible to pick a best or favorite.

Get well soon, and enjoy as well as succeed at your studies.

Fantastic captures of a great summer John! Your photographs are always tack sharp and beautifully done. I love each and every one, but I must admit, I am partial to the final Osprey shot (even though the one with the bird with two fish is amazing).

Thanks for the great slide show!

It’s only H1n1 if you have the urge to wallow in the mud.

Great photos!

I am not an experienced photographer or birder. I found this site looking for bird feeding information. The photographs are outstanding and make me very jealous. I took a few poor pictures today and hope over the next few years to become better at this new 'sport' I have become involved in.
Nice job to all and have a great birding winter.
Pierre
