GASP! That’s a spectacular photo. It took me a minute to notice the fish it’s holding.

Thank you!
Great catch! I like the tight cropping.

Thanks Steve!
I didn’t have a choice on the crop. The Osprey flew right over my head, so low as to clip the wings when I took the photo. Would have loved some sunlight under the bird, but sun was too high in the sky.
Nice image! Look how his tail feathers are flared in flight!
Wahoo!
John,
Great catch for both you and the osprey.
Actually, I love the light coming through the feathers, especially the spread tail feathers. I have such trouble capturing images of birds in flight.
Very cool shot, John.
Wow, great photo!
Awesome capture John! You have caught the Osprey in its favorite pose, with fish in talon and hopefully no Bald Eagles around to steal it! They are such amazing birds of prey with those incredibly large talons. Isn’t it cool how they turn the fish in their talons to face forward to cut down on the drag the fish creates in flight? Nature is truly magical!
That is a great photo. congratulations!
I took a shot last summer of one kiting in the wind above me on my walk. But nothing compared to that.
Thanks everyone for your fine comments!
Thanks for stopping by my blog John. I’m really enjoying yours! Great photos!
About a half mile down the street we have an Osprey nest on a man made platform. I’m hoping to be able to capture some decent pictures of the birds this year, though I doubt anything as spectacular as this shot! But you never know : )
